What you can wash

If it fits in a machine, we’ve got one for it.

Our machines are the latest equipment available in Australia, sized from an everyday load right up to commercial. Here’s what people bring in most.

The weekly family wash

Load it, wash it, dry it, fold it on the benches and go. Start to finish it’s about half an hour, which beats three loads at home across a whole Saturday.

Standard machines

Doonas, blankets and curtains

The things that never really fit in a domestic machine. Ours take them comfortably, and more importantly they come out properly dry rather than damp in the middle.

Large machines

Pet bedding, dog blankets and horse rugs

There’s a machine set aside just for these. It means dog and horse gear gets a machine built to cope with it, and nobody else’s sheets ever go in after it.

Dedicated pet machine

Walking gear and camping kit

Back off the track with half the Blue Mountains on your boots. Sleeping bags, jackets, muddy layers, all sorted before you drive home. We open early and close late, so a wash fits either side of a walk.

Large machines

Cabin, cottage and commercial linen

Short-stay sheets and towels, workwear, uniforms. The large machines are built for commercial loads, so a full changeover doesn’t take you all afternoon.

How it works

Never used a laundromat before?

It takes about a minute to work out. Here’s the whole thing.

Step 01

Just turn up

No booking, no waiting for a slot. We’re open from six in the morning until ten at night, seven days a week, public holidays included.

Step 02

Load and pay

Pick the machine that suits your load and pay at the machine. It’s coin-operated, and there’s a note-to-coin machine inside if you’ve only got notes on you.

Step 03

Grab powder

Bring your own if you prefer a particular one. If you’ve forgotten it, the powder dispenser is right there in the shop.

Step 04

Wash, dry, fold

Free WiFi and a seat if you’re staying, or duck into Aldi and the shops on Katoomba St and come back to a finished load.

Prices

What it costs.

Every price is marked on the machine itself, so there are no surprises once you’re standing there with a basket.

Questions

The things people ring up and ask.

What time are you open?

6:00am to 10:00pm, every single day of the year. That includes weekends and public holidays. If you work early or finish late, you can still get your washing done.

Where exactly are you?

Shop 4, 201–207 Katoomba Street, Katoomba. We’re in the Aldi complex on the corner of Waratah Street, so you can park and do the shop while your washing runs.

Do I need coins?

The machines are coin-operated, but you don’t need to hunt around for change beforehand. There’s a note-to-coin machine inside the shop.

I’ve forgotten my washing powder.

There’s a laundry powder dispenser in-house. Grab what you need on the way in.

How long does a wash take?

A full family wash runs about 30 minutes from loading to folding. Enough time for a coffee on Katoomba Street or a run through Aldi.

Can I wash a doona or a blanket?

Yes. The large machines are made for exactly this: doonas, blankets, curtains, sleeping bags. They’re energy and water efficient too, and they dry things through properly rather than leaving the middle damp.

Can I wash my dog’s bedding here?

Yes, and please use the dedicated pet machine rather than a standard one. We keep it set aside for dog, cat and horse gear, which is better for your washing and for everyone else’s.

Can you handle commercial loads?

The large machines are suitable for commercial work: short-stay and cottage linen, uniforms, workwear. If you’ve got a regular changeover and want to talk about timing, give us a ring on (02) 4703 6600.

Is the water use as bad as it sounds?

It’s the other way around. Our machines read the absorbency of the load at the start of the cycle and adjust the water level at every stage of the wash program to match.

That means they use far less water than a domestic machine at home, and one big load here beats three small ones there.

Is there WiFi and somewhere to sit?

Free WiFi, seating by the window and stainless folding benches. Plenty of people put a load on and just work through it.

Washing to do? We’re open.
